Potty Training

Potty training...That's what we are in the process of right now. I did potty train my first four and I am amazed at how well JiaLi is doing. She can stay dry for hours and when it's time to pee, she goes right to the toilet. A few accidents here and there but she is doing awesome. But then there is poop?? I went through this with my others so I know she will learn but with this blog now(I didn't have a blog with the others) I would love any advice. The first/second day of potty training, JiaLi did try to go poop in the toilet. She was sitting on her Dora toilet seat from Auntie Amy and succeeded but then tried to get up right away. A mess was made:) JiaLi was bothered by that and will tell me that she does not want to use the Dora seat because "it will get all messy". To be honest, I am glad because then I don't have to worry about her being addicted to the seat. Now she is doing what all my other kids did(you think by now I would have this solved) and just avoiding pooping at all costs until she gets to the point that she can't hold it in anymore and out it comes. There was one day that she was asking for some apple juice and I told her I would give it to her after she went in the toilet and she did do it. But that worked once. I'll have to find something that she just won't want to say no to. Here she is holding her bum because guess what is about to happen... Any advice is appreciated:)

How in the world were you lucky enough to get that shot?? I am afraid I am no help..as you know, Annslee was the opposite and poop trained first. I finally let her go nudey booty (which she loved) to get the pee pee finished. I know you have a full house so this may not be an option for you LOL

hmmm...
Caitlyn also poop trained herself first... Somehow none of my 4 ever held it and it was never an issue.
My thoughts are could you really praise one of the other kids for pooping in the toilet? Also if she does go in her panties/diaper could you put it in the toilet anyway telling her thats where all poop goes.
If anything else comes to mind I will come back.

We did candy for poopy in the potty oh and phone calls to grammie and grandad and cousins sometimes for positive affirmation and celebrations. But before that she would request a pullup be put on for the poo.

I can offer no help because Lauren refuses to try and potty train right now, she will sit but only with a diaper on and will not wear panties or pullups. Sounds to me like you are doing a great job though, when you get Jiali trained, wanna come to georgia and train Lauren ? :)

Stacie has a wonderful idea! When you are finished potty training JiaLi you guys could go "on the road" and potty train others!
It sounds like you are almost there! Liana had started potty training a while back, but due to ear infections/antibiotics, etc, it didn't stay. She wears pull ups now and uses the potty quite a bit, but still goes in the pull up too. I think she is read, but I am waiting for several days off in a row to really get going. Any tips, please let us know!!!!
Love, Patty

With our oldest, he would not "doodle" in the potty. He was completely tinkle trained, but the doodle was the problem. I finally made up a "Doodle" chart and we put stars on both the chart and on a card. When he filled the card up (5 stars), he got to select a gift from the gift closet. Within a week, we were all trained. He is 15 & 1/2 and I still have the "Doodle Chart"--great bribery material, too!
